Ethel Eileen Elston Obituary (1935 - 2020)

Ethel Eileen Elston, 85 of Virden, passed away Wednesday June 24, 2020. Eileen was born in Edinberg, IL on May 7, 1935 to Carl and Waneta Vanhuss. She married Edward C. Elston II on May 25, 1958 who precedes her in death along with their infant son Scotty. Eileen is fondly known to close family as "Snook" and the "Sugar Cookie Queen". She is survived by her children: Edward C. Elston III of Virden, Linda (Albert) Boesdorfer of Atwater, Michael Elston of Virden, Timothy (Lori) Elston of Virden, and Waneta (Tim) Weller of Thayer. Her grandchildren: Marcie (John) Leonard, Jennifer Castleman, Neil (Danae) Boesdorfer, Kelsey Armstrong, Carly Weller, Shelby Armstrong, Ruthie Weller, Faith Elston, Joseph Weller, and Caleb Elston. Her great-grand children: Brady and Jaxon Castleman, Bella and Collin Etter, and Natalie and Samuel Boesdorfer. Her siblings: Helen (Tommy) Rolando, Geraldine Singer, James (Mary) Vanhuss, Esther (Aaron) Brewer She is preceded in death by siblings: Jake Vanhuss, Charles Vanhuss, Hailey "Sis" Lair, Robert Vanhuss, Tom Vanhuss, Lorene "Midge" Olive, and Laurie Henke and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eileen was a dedicated homemaker with a love for children and baking. She was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinal fan and a dedicated Days of Our Lives watcher. She was an active member of Prairie Temple Assembly of God church where she taught Sunday School and Children's Church for many years. Visitation will be held Tuesday June 30th from 6pm - 8pm at Airsman-Calvert Funeral Home in Virden, IL. Funeral will be Wednesday July 1st at 10am at Prairie Temple Assembly of God Church in Virden, IL. Private family graveside services immediately following at Camp Butler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to Prairie Temple Assembly of God Church. The Airsman-Calvert Funeral Home in Virden is in charge of arrangements.
