Jim Highland, Jr. Obituary (1952 - 2022)

John James "Jim" Highland, Jr. 69 of Edinburg, passed away suddenly on November 11, 2022 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born December 1, 1952 in Springfield son of John James, Sr. and Dorothy Lorean (Bogart) Highland. He married Christal Phoenix and she survives his passing. Jim was a truck driver by trade and loved fishing, traveling, animals and watching Professional Wrestling. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them. He had proudly served his Country in the United States Army. Jim is also survived by his brothers-in-law Randall (Sonya) Lauterbach of Virden, Mike (Tracy) McGrew of Springfield, Otis "Bobby" (Hyanju) Phoenix of Augusta, GA, James Phoenix of Irving, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John James, Sr. and Dorothy Highland. Military Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where burial will immediately follow. Friends and extended family are asked to join his family directly at the cemetery. Memorials are suggested and may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be received by Airsman & Calvert Funeral Homes, Virden who is honored to be caring for Jim's family.
