Marzetta F Rutherford Obituary (1924 - 2020)

VIRDEN-Marzetta F. Rutherford, aged 96 years, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Sunrise Care in Virden. Marzetta was born to Lemon T. and Ethel Weddle on a farm north of Girard, the second of four children. She was a 1942 graduate of Girard High School and married Oscar Rutherford, Jr. on April 1, 1944. Oscar preceded her in death in 2013. Marzetta was devoted to her family and friends. She particularly enjoyed her afternoon and evening bridge clubs, which provided a respite from the routine of farm life. She was an avid reader, perennial flower gardener, and spent hours with her knitting and quilting. Marzetta is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oscar, her older brother Edgar Weddle, who perished in World War II, and her sister Lois Tipton. She is survived by her brother Isaac Leroy Weddle of Indianapolis, her daughter Beverly Davis of Seattle, her son James Rutherford of Milwaukee, her grandson Craig Anthony Vincent of Seattle, and step-granddaughters Carolyn Davis, Anne Marie Davis, and Jana Brady, all of Seattle. A graveside service will be held for family and friends at the family plot at the Virden Cemetery 10 AM Friday, December 11. No visitation is planned given the current pandemic.
