Michael A. deVries Obituary (1971 - 2021)

Michael A. deVries, 50 of Virden passed away suddenly Thursday, July 22, 2021 due to injuries suffered in a vehicle accident. He was born May 14, 1971 in Mt. Carmel, IL son of Johannes and Marjorie Carole (Crowe) deVries. Michael had proudly served his Country in the United States Navy and was a Combat Veteran of the Persian Gulf War serving on the USS John F. Kennedy. He is survived by his mother Marjorie Carole (friend Frank Pierce), brothers Adam deVries of Virden, Anton (significant other Denise Jones) deVries of Virden, sisters Carla deVries-See (significant other Terry Wray) of Denver, IN, Sonja (Ned) Jones of Virden, Jenny (Shane) Buhl of Girard, Gina (Zachary) Hogan of Virden, Dana deVries of Urbana, IL, Jessica (Steve) Gorman of Wentzville, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and brother Peter deVries. Private Family Graveside Services will be held Friday, July 30, 2021 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with full Military Honors conducted by the Interveteran's Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Memorials in his honor may be made to the choice of the donor and will be accepted by Airsman & Calvert Funeral Home in Virden who is honored to be serving Michael's family.
