"Sonny" Huffman Obituary (1947 - 2022)

Orville L. "Sonny" Huffman, 75 of Virden passed away suddenly, Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital Emergency Room with his loving family by his side. He was born December 2, 1947 in Springfield son of Ernest and Gloria (Woodside) Huffman. He married Cathy Power and she preceded him in death in May, 2016. Sonny was a truck driver and loved going to auctions, telling jokes and giving people a "hard time". Sonny is survived by his children Pam (Travis) Schweitzer of Poplar Grove, IL, Joe (Rachel) Huffman of Auburn, AJ (Kate) Huffman of Auburn; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers Ernest Wayne "Buddy" Huffman, Jr., Melvin L. Huffman, Robert J. Huffman and Harold L. Huffman and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his loving wife Cathy, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carl D. Huffman and sister Nancy Kiel. In keeping with his wishes, Sonny will be cremated and his family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 3-6 PM at the Auburn Community Center, 118 North 5th, Auburn, IL. Memorials may be made to the Gillespie Caring Center, 100 S Macoupin St, Gillespie, IL 62033 and will also be received by Airsman & Calvert Funeral Homes, Virden who is honored to be caring for Sonny's family.
