Peggy C. "Peg" Opremchak Obituary (1930 - 2020)

Peggy C. "Peg" Opremchak, 89, of Virden, died Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born November 23, 1930, in Nameoki, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Flossie Bales Jones. She married Paul S. "Spunk" Opremchak on June 14, 1958, in Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1996. Peggy is survived by two children, Amy M. (Bill) Cody of Virden and Joseph P. (Lorri) Opremchak of Terre Haute, Indiana; two grandchildren, Emma Cody and Bree (Ryan) Goucher, and her beloved cat, Flossie. Peg was a homemaker and had also worked at Eisner Grocery Store and as a playground supervisor at Virden Elementary School until she retired. She was a member of Virden First Presbyterian Church. Peg loved the St. Louis Cardinals, her grand dogs Buddy and Annie, and spending time with her family and eating out. Due to the current pandemic, a private service will be held with burial at Virden Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Memorial Home Services Hospice, Animal Protective League, or the Alzheimer's Association. The Airsman-Calvert Funeral Home in Virden is in charge of arrangements.
