Perry Lee Ashby Obituary (1969 - 2023)

Perry Lee Ashby, 53, of Girard passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 30, 2023, at Memorial Medical Center Emergency Room. He was born December 16, 1969, in Belleville, IL, the son of Louis and Barbara (Johnson) Ashby. He married Angela Arreola; they later divorced. Perry had proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams as they were growing up. Most of all, Perry loved his family and their time spent together, especially his children and grandchildren. Perry is survived by his son, Zachery Ashby, of Springfield; daughter, Jordan Ashby (fiance Marvin Garcia), of Beardstown; grandchildren, Seraphina and Oliver; parents, Louis and Barbara Ashby, of Galesburg; brother, Christopher Ashby (Brandy), of Galesburg; sister, Sarah Ashby (Wade Kruemmelbein), of Daytona Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, Cole, Gabrielle, Louis, Carsen, Carlee and Caden; and one aunt, Brenda Johnson (Dorthea McKinney), of Ozone, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Airsman & Calvert Funeral Home in Virden with Pastor Rob Tevis officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, with full military rites conducted by Interveteran's Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Visitation will be Friday, February 3, from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Association and will be accepted by Airsman & Calvert Funeral Home in Virden, who is honored to be caring for Perry's family.
