Shelly Lynne (Stead) Katcher Obituary (1966 - 2023)

Shelly Lynne (Stead) Katcher, 56 of Virden passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at St. John's Hospital on Monday, January 16, 2023. She was born in Springfield on July 17, 1966, daughter of James and Darlene (Crain) Stead. Shelly graduated with the Girard High School Class of 1984. She was very athletic during her high school years and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren excel in sports. Alongside her companion, Roger K. Flowers Sr. she worked at Flowers Sanitation for 23 years. Shelly loved to read and had bowled for many years. Shelly is survived by her three children: Sarah (Josh) Colvin, Samantha (Chase Flentje) Boehler and Kyle (Kelsi) Katcher, six grandchildren, Companion Roger K. Flowers Sr., her father James Stead, brother Steve (Patty) Stead and nephews Quentin and Maddix Stead. She was preceded in death by her mother, Darlene Stead, grandparents L. W. "Red" and Mary Stead and Jack and Esther (Johnson) Crain. In keeping with Shelly's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Airsman & Calvert Funeral Home in Virden. Burial will follow at Virden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of services on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested and may be made to the Grand Prairie of the West Library in Virden or the Ronald McDonald House and will be accepted by Airsman & Calvert Funeral Homes, Virden who is honored to be caring for Shelly's family.
