Sherry L Johnson Obituary (1944 - 2022)

Sherry L. Johnson, 77 of Virden passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Heritage Manor in Carlinville with her loving family by her side. She was born October 12, 1944 in Springfield, daughter of Harry and Fern (Nickel) Smith. Sherry had retired from Ameren as a Word Processer and was a Massage Therapist for numerous years. She was a member of the Virden Christian Church and loved angels. Most of all, her love for her family and caring for them brought her the most joy. Surviving Sherry's passing are her son Freddie L. Johnson, Jr. of Virden, her daughter Gwen Holmes of Pekin, IL; grandchildren Paden (Will) Morgan, Auston Shipley, Ella Johnson and Dolan Johnson; great grandchildren Claypso, Layla, Wyatt, Allistair and Allya; numerous beloved cousins and her best friend since childhood, Carolle Britenstine. Sherry was preceded in death by her parents and sister Ginger Lou Smith. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the Virden Cemetery with Rev. Dr. John Huxtable officiating. Friends are asked to join her family directly at the Cemetery. Memorials are suggested and may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project and will be received by Airsman & Calvert Funeral Homes, Virden who is honored to be caring for Sherry's family.
