Thelma Lucille Hankins Obituary (1929 - 2022)

Thelma Lucille Hankins, 92 of Virden passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at St. John's Hospital. She was born August 31, 1929 near Modesto daughter of Ray and Bertha (Snowden) Hart. She married Richard Hankins in January 1947 and preceded her in death on May 2, 1989. Thelma graduated from Modesto High School in 1946. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of Tri-County Club, a Bunco Club and loved dancing and playing cars. She enjoyed several years of dancing and vacationing in Florida with her companion Harvey Bettis. She is survived by her sons Gerald (Carol) Hankins of Girard and Russell (Marcia) Hankins of Virden; companion Harvey Bettis of Hettick; grandchildren Ret. Sgt. Gary Hankins of Fayetteville, NC, Gini (Jeff) Jenkins of Virden, Rachel Hankins of Chatham, Vanessa (Walter) Ersery of Virden and Dan (Mary) Wallace of Rochester; great grandchildren Megan and Mallory Jenkins, Isabella, Lilliana and Everett all of Virden, Kately, Maddie and Trent (Desiree) Hankins of Fayetteville, NC, Lindsey McDouglad of Fayetteville, NC, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Lavern Lamb and Bernice Love and nephews Randall Love and Kenneth Ray Lamb. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Waverly East Cemetery with Pastor Bobby Davis officiating. Friends and extended family are asked to join her family directly at the Cemetery. Memorials are suggested and may be made to the Prairie Land Ambulance and will be received by Airsman & Calvert Funeral Homes, Virden who is honored to be caring for Thelma's family.
